Back to Basics: Booster Draft!

So I admit it, I didn’t post anything last week because I was actually kind of hoping the world might end.  You know, going to work might have actually been fun.  I mean, you can only guess what would happen.  It’s not like an asteroid or the zombie apocalypse and I’m not watching that crappy John Cusack movie to see how Hollywood thinks the world should end.  But alas, I sit here disappointed.  All of the decks we’ve put together from set 4…….I’m not sure if any of them are up to snuff with the top tier decks.  The jury is still out as they say.  And set 5 doesn’t come out for another 2 months.  That’s depressing.  I mean isn’t there SOMETHING you can do for us until February 22nd?  Give us two trial decks we should have had in August?  Santotaco will be happy to finally get that black cat he’s been craving.  Yay.  On the bright side, I can save a bit of my money for once but can’t we get something like I don’t know……a set 5 preview?  What’s that now?  Yes?!  Yes that’s actually happening?  Prove it!

Now we’re talking!  Set 5 will be introducing Cardfight!! Vanguard’s very first booster draft which is supposed to happen the week before it’s release.  Not exactly sure if our shop is going to get it but all signs point towards PLEASE GET THIS!  PLEHEHHEHEHEHEASE GET THIIIIIIIIIS!

Alright so in case we do happen to get to do this booster draft, we should know the rules.  Bushiroad posted rules on their official Vanguard website.  But because I’m lazy and craving that quick and easy content, I’m gonna copy it here!  Shut up.

Booster Draft Recommended Rules

What is Booster Draft?
Booster Draft is a method of play which involves purchasing, opening and building a
deck straight away for a game!
Fighters open the packs and choose a card he or she would like to use in a
predetermined order (this is known as a “draft”), and decks are built right there and
then!
With this unique style, fighters get to experience the thrill of selecting cards, and the joy
of playing with a different deck every time!

Preparations for Booster Draft
1.  Can be played with 2 or more fighters. (It would be best to have 4 fighters!)
2.  Each fighter will prepare 6 booster packs each.

Recommended Rules for Draft

1.  Decide on the seating arrangement around the table with a random method. (e.g.
rock-paper-scissors)
2.  Each person will open one pack, and check the cards inside that pack.
3.  Choose a card and place it face down in front of you.
Fighters may not peek at the face down cards.
4.  Once everyone has chosen their cards, all fighters will pass the rest of the cards in
hand to the person on the left, in a clockwise direction.
5.  With the cards received from the fighter on the right, choose a card and place it face
down. Once everyone is done, pass the rest of the cards in hand to the left again.
Repeat until all the cards have been taken.
6.  Between the third and fourth pack, you may check your own face down cards.
Starting from the fourth pack, pass the cards in hand to the person on your
right(anti-clockwise).

7.  Once all 6 packs have been opened and passed around, the draft ends. The fight will
now begin with the 30 cards chosen and formed as a deck!

Deck building
1.  The 30 chosen cards becomes your deck.
2.  The rules which restrict only 4 of the same card, as well as only 4 heal triggers in a deck do not apply.

Game Conditions

The rules of a normal cardfight apply, but with the addition of a special rule:
“During a trigger check, if a vanguard or rear-guard of the same clan as the trigger unit
is not present on the field, the trigger effects will still activate.”
Therefore, please ignore the clans of the trigger units when choosing cards to build your
deck!

When all games are finished
After all games are finished, share the cards equally among all the fighters who took
part!

So you know…..there it is.  What’s important to try to take from these rules is most of the restrictions in the normal rules do not apply.  You can have more than 4 of the same card and you can even have more than 4 heal triggers.  OOOooooOOOOOooooo oh you can read.  Good!  And the trigger rules requiring the same clan to be on the field also do not apply.  So you can pick whatever card you want and still have fun.  Oh and also here’s this:
