Back to Basics: Booster Draft!

By: Brony

So I admit it, I didn’t post anything last week because I was actually kind of hoping the world might end.  You know, going to work might have actually been fun.  I mean, you can only guess what would happen.  It’s not like an asteroid or the zombie apocalypse and I’m not watching that crappy John Cusack movie to see how Hollywood thinks the world should end.  But alas, I sit here disappointed.  All of the decks we’ve put together from set 4…….I’m not sure if any of them are up to snuff with the top tier decks.  The jury is still out as they say.  And set 5 doesn’t come out for another 2 months.  That’s depressing.  I mean isn’t there SOMETHING you can do for us until February 22nd?  Give us two trial decks we should have had in August?  Santotaco will be happy to finally get that black cat he’s been craving.  Yay.  On the bright side, I can save a bit of my money for once but can’t we get something like I don’t know……a set 5 preview?  What’s that now?  Yes?!  Yes that’s actually happening?  Prove it!

Now we’re talking!  Set 5 will be introducing Cardfight!! Vanguard’s very first booster draft which is supposed to happen the week before it’s release.  Not exactly sure if our shop is going to get it but all signs point towards PLEASE GET THIS!  PLEHEHHEHEHEHEASE GET THIIIIIIIIIS!

Alright so in case we do happen to get to do this booster draft, we should know the rules.  Bushiroad posted rules on their official Vanguard website.  But because I’m lazy and craving that quick and easy content, I’m gonna copy it here!  Shut up.

How To Not Suck At Taking Your Turn

By:  Lord Earl Baron Professor Captain Showboat…Esquire

Hello all to a very special Vanguard Christmas Special. What makes this special so special? Nothing. This article is no unique snowflake and neither are you. Even then, that snowflake will just get land on the tongue of some elementary school kid and turn to formless water. Anyways, the moral of this story is to drink snowflakes to gain their power. What defines a game? Is it a test of one’s skill in strength, speed, or critical thinking? Is it an exercise in luck and patience? Seeing as this is an article discussing a collectible card game, I’ll fall back on my favorite definition, a series of interesting decisions.

Everyone’s had this issue at one point, someone is taking forever in deciding how to take their turn. They spend too much time mulling over arbitrary decisions and wasting both player’s time. In this article, it will be my goal, nay, QUEST to make people stop sucking at taking a turn.

Deck Profile: Sakuya Revisited

Back in July I wrote an article about the new Trial Decks I had expected to hit the shelves around the same time as BT03. As usual, my prediction ended up being incorrect and they delayed the release. We’re just over a month away from the official release of TD03 and TD04 and I wanted to take this opportunity to revisit my original deck and modernize it for the current English Meta.

With Set 4 now all up ons and with absolutely nothing left to preview

“What about Kagero?!”

Absolutely nothing left, I thought I’d take a step back and reflect upon this wild and whacky ride called Cardfight!…..

VANGUARD! and you know I thought I’d do that by picking out my favorite card from each set in the current meta.  See now that title might just be too clever.

Cardfight News and Commentary: The Banlist

by: Santotaku

For the most part the goal of this blog has been to speak specifically about the English-only meta, however, recent events have come up which I feel I need to comment on. For those of you who are aware of what is going on in the Japanese meta, you know what it is I’m referring to, for those of you who don’t, the following is a post on Bushiroad’s Facebook page:

Deck Profile: Royal Paladin – Garmore…..He gets better I swear.

By: Brony

With Set 4 a week away, we’re now starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel and in this instance I might have created a hole in the barrel and am now digging into the ground.  I mean all sets are going to feature at least one red headed step child and set 4 is no exception.  I am, of course, referring to Royal Paladin’s Garmore build.  That’s right! The awful deck Kourin put out in episodes 43 and 44 of season 1.  I want to try and put together Kourin’s particular build, which is dumb but it is a build and then discuss the merits of…..pffft I’m sorry, I was trying to type that out without laughing.  I will at least try.  But first, let’s take a look at a conversation that transpired prior to one of these matches:

Deck Profile: Nova Grapplers! Rise of the Blue Star Warrior

By: Santotaku

The Nova Grapplers are a favorite of players who enjoy fast and aggressive play style. They boast persistent attacks by standing units through various effects such as Asura Kaiser or Beast Deity, Azure Dragon. Their continued support in BT04 is no different, offering them the consistency of a ride chain mechanic and the ability to stand a vanguard allowing for a powerful final turn push.
